St Louis Community College Center for Nursing & Health Sciences

Wiegmann Associates was the Design/Assist mechanical engineer for the $84.5 million, 132,900-square-foot Center for Nursing and Health Sciences located on St. Louis Community College’s Wildwood campus (STLCC Wildwood).

Wiegmann was brought onto the project to streamline HVAC design and select equipment/accessories in a Design/Assist role with the consulting engineer, IMEG. The systems serve the specialized spaces within the facility, including MRI and nuclear medicine labs. The energy-efficient yet cost-efficient HVAC design solution features chilled and hot water systems coupled with variable volume air handling units.

When STLCC Wildwood opened, it became the first community college in the nation to achieve LEED Gold certification. The “green” campus was designed to enhance occupant comfort and health and built with environmentally-friendly materials and architecture reduce operating costs, conserve natural resources and reduce each building’s environmental impact.

Wiegmann was the mechanical contractor for the LEED Silver Center for Nursing & Health Sciences at SLCC’s Forest Park campus, which was completed in 2019.
