SurgCenter Development

Ambulatory outpatient surgery centers provide unique challenges because they are essentially small hospitals. Typically facilities are located within existing buildings that were not initially designed to house a medical facility and the necessary MEP systems. Consequently the plenum spaces are tight and it challenging to design duct and piping systems to fit in the allocated spaces while maintaining ceiling heights required by the Health Care Guidelines. Healthcare facilities have strict temperature, humidity, air change/ventilation and filtration requirements, which require custom solutions at each location. Our designs take all of this into consideration to provide cost effective, energy efficient solutions.

Wiegmann completed HVAC system upgrades at 92 SurgCenter facilities across a 15-year partnership in more than 20 states, including:

  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Indiana
  • Louisiana
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Utah
