HVAC for Government Buildings
From government office, cultural, education and housing facilities to aircraft hangers, Wiegmann has completed energy-efficient projects across the U.S. for the GSA, VA, Department of Defense, U.S. Army. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Navy and NAVFAC.
We design and construct complex mechanical systems that meet stringent government requirements and bring projects in budget. Many of our government projects have met green building standards, achieved LEED certification and generated significant energy savings.
Government HVAC Challenges We've Solved:
- Replaced an obsolete HVAC system with a high-performance one that met green building standards for the newly renovated Charles F. Prevedel Federal Building. Relocated and replaced outdoor air intakes on the roof to meet security requirements.
- As a part of the historic restoration of the 1912 St. Louis Central Library, engineered one of the largest-ever installations of a Daikin Variable Refrigerant Flow system, helping to preserve the building while significantly reducing energy costs.
- Served as mechanical construction manager for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Marshall Elementary School in Fort Bragg, KY, built to meet 21st century design specifications for educational spaces that are flexible, adaptable and provide innovative learning environments.
- Achieved 30 percent energy savings over ASHRAE 90.1 2007 Baseline Building and achieved LEED Silver certification through our work as the design-assist engineer and mechanical construction manager for the SOF Battalion Operations Command in Fort Campbell, KY.
- Value engineered the HVAC system for the National Archives and Records Administration in St. Louis, saving $3.6M in construction costs and $340k per year in energy savings.
