Project Challenge/Solution
The two-year restoration of the historic, 1912 St. Louis Central Library in Downtown St. Louis presented many unique challenges. The Wiegmann team’s out-of-the-box thinking was required to develop the means and methods for installing new HVAC systems within the historic building. Our value engineering provided a streamlined system for the auditorium and ancillary spaces that saved the owner up-front and long-term operating costs.
A Daikin Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system with a dedicated outdoor air system also was used to minimize energy consumption. This project is one of the largest Daikin VRF installations in the St. Louis area.
In addition to the permanent HVAC installation, we provided temporary heating and cooling throughout the construction cycle to minimize damage to historic decorations and finishes.
