ENERGY SAVINGS

– Our design will save the PA DOC $1M per year.
– Energy modeling shows that our design results in a building that is >45% more efficient than an AHSRAE 90.1-2007 baseline building.
– Energy analysis demonstrated that the Wiegmann Associates design will save the owner more than $1M more than the difference in other mechanical bids over the 20 year life of the system.

PROJECT CHALLENGE/SOLUTION

The SCI Phoenix Correctional Facility is a replacement facility for one of the largest state correctional facilities in Pennsylvania. The new facility spans more than 25 buildings, including 15 inmate housing, support and administrative buildings.

This type of facility requires high amounts of ventilation air, which in turn drives energy usage.  Our challenge was to provide the correct amount of ventilation air while optimizing energy performance.  Our unique design solution and proper selection of equipment will achieve optimal energy savings.
