Industrial Production Facility & Office: Virginia

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project:
New construction production facility and offices
Construction Schedule: Completed Summer 2020

ROLE

HVAC Mechanical Contractor

PROJECT APPROACH

Design/Build

 PROJECT SCOPE

W
iegmann designed and installed the HVAC system for this 502,850-square-foot production facility and office space. The HVAC solution included ten, 50-ton rooftop units in the production facility and six rooftop units in the office area. To maximize energy savings, Wiegmann included a building management system on the air conditioning equipment that allows for programming night set back on individual zones and optimal start on the rooftop units.

To meet strict humidity requirements, Wiegmann collaborated with an equipment manufacturer to design a warehouse humidification system that would maintain 40% relative humidity with a 2% tolerance. Wiegmann also designed a redundant split HVAC system and damper system to allow the executive office area to be conditioned 24/7

 PROJECT CHALLENGE/SOLUTION

Because of its close proximity to the Naval Air Station Oceana, Wiegmann was unable to use a crane to lift the equipment onto the roof. This required Wiegmann to coordinate with a helicopter company that had a helicopter large enough to lift the heavy 50-ton rooftop units.
