 PROJECT SCOPE

Wiegmann Associates is designing and installing HVAC systems as part of the redevelopment of a senior-care facility in Sunset Hills, MO. As the Engineer of Record and mechanical contractor, Wiegmann’s energy-efficient heating and cooling solution is designed to provide optimal comfort for patients. The HVAC system also will meet the owner’s goal of being able to simultaneously heat and cool different spaces. It will meet the stringent standards set forth by the Department of Health and Senior Services.

PROJECT CHALLENGE/SOLUTION

Wiegmann valued engineered the original HVAC design to bring the project into budget. Wiegmann’s design solution features an energy-efficient Variable Air Volume (VAV) system to serve the 40,000-square-foot building, which features both two-story and one-story sections. The VAV units adjust the fans and compressors to match the loads in the building. This reduces the motor horsepower and compressor energy to save energy and operational costs.
