PROJECT CHALLENGE/SOLUTION

The NARA St. Louis project was over budget and in jeopardy of not being approved based on the original bid documents.  Wiegmann value engineered the mechanical systems to reduce the cost of the mechanical systems and help the project move forward.

We saved the owner $3.6M in construction costs and more than $340,000 per year in energy costs by redesigning the HVAC systems. Our design streamlined the sheet metal and piping layouts to reduce material and labor. We selected chillers and air handling units at cost effective and energy efficient performance points to optimize the equipment. While Wiegmann provided engineering expertise to redesign the HVAC systems to reduce costs, the original design consultant remained the engineer of record.
