PROJECT CHALLENGE/SOLUTION

Crescent Crown Distributing is one of the top 10 largest beer distributors in the USA. Wiegmann engineered specialized solutions to overcome environmental challenges of the hot humid climate in Southern Louisiana while optimizing the energy efficiency of the building HVAC and refrigeration systems.

The challenge was selecting equipment with the correct cooling capacity to handle all aspects of the cooling load profile without oversizing equipment and wasting energy. Our solution featured high efficiency rooftop units with variable speed drives on the supply fans to allow for energy savings at part load while still being able to cool the product under peak cooling load conditions.

An integrated controls sequence had to be utilized to offset high humidity. We also had to secure equipment and condensate piping to the roof to withstand hurricane force winds.

Wiegmann designed a Variable Air Volume (VAV) system in the office areas for energy efficiency and precise thermal control for the occupants. We also designed and installed the Building Automation Systems using Delta Controls to ensure optimal performance.
